Bowman EC-80 (Titanium) Hot Tub Heat Exchanger
New Energy Saving Heating Solution for Hot Tubs |
Hot Tubs are traditionally heated electrically, however, hot tub owners and businesses find that energy costs can be high and heat up times quite slow, limiting their usability. This is more of an issue for holiday parks and lets, where covers are off for longer, the spas are used more and guests demand and expectations are high. Heat up times here are critical as hot tubs in buesiness settings require water changes after each set of guests and at least weekly. However, a new heat exchanger, developed by E J Bowman and distributed in the UK by 1 Stop Spas Trade, could provide the solution that addresses these problems. Known as the EC80-Titanium (shown above), it enables hot tubs to be heated via a domestic or commercial heating system, dramatically reducing energy costs. And with up to 25kW of heat transfer capability, hot tubs can be heated in a fraction of the time taken by electric heaters. In recent trials, with a well known large holiday park chain, when the spas were ‘hot filled’ with warm tap water, heat up times have been as low as 1 hour from filling up and switching on! At the heart of the EC80 is an immensely durable titanium tubestack, which resists chemical attack indefinitely and has a 10 year guarantee on all titanium in contact with hot tub water. At just 368mm overall length, it is so compact it can be fitted virtually anywhere. The EC80 is also available with either a stainless Steel, or Cupro-nickel tubestack, however we only recommend the Titanium version for Hot Tub application where the balance of the water is fast changing and with higher operating temps then a pool. Bowman heat exchangers are already proven in commercial hot tub applications – 24 units were recently converted from electric to Biomass heating, providing energy cost savings of £12,000.00 per year. Additionally, the hot tubs now take just 2-3 hours to reach temperature, compared with up to 24 hours previously – a significant factor when servicing the tubs prior to guest changeovers! 1 Stop Spas Trade can also supply a Heat Exchanger Control Relay Box in order to allow the Hot Tub to control the heat source (motorised valve/pump/boiler). For large projects, we can also design and install heat exchnagers into almost any hot tub where there is room to do so. |
