6 Easy Ways to Prepare Your Garden for Summer

As we slowly move into the warmer months, you’ll be spending a lot more time in your outdoor space. We don’t tend to do anything during the colder months to our gardens, so come summer time it’s probably needing some TLC. But don’t worry though, you don’t need to be a professional to prepare your garden for summer.

Follow these 6 easy steps to prepare your garden for summer, and you’ll be off to a great start.

Clean Your Garden Furniture

If your outdoor furniture isn’t covered over the winter months it can start to collect dirt, and puddles of rainwater and become unusable for summer. You’ll simply just need to hose down your furniture, cleaning it with a microfibre cloth to remove the dirt and debris. This step will really shape your garden for the summer months, creating a much more sociable area.

De-weed

The basic maintenance of your garden is also important, removing any dead plants and weeds. We know that this can be a boring job, but you’ll be grateful you did it when you’re sitting in your tidy garden enjoying the sun.

Plant Flowers

Don’t worry, there are some exciting jobs as well, like planting flowers!

If you want to add some more colour to your garden for summer, bright colourful flowers are a must. Planting seeds is also super easy, so it won’t take you long. All you need to do is simply find a spot in your garden, dig a hole and spread the seeds.

Clean Decking & Patios

The decking and patio can become very dirty over time, especially during winter periods. If you want to give it a thorough clean, it would be ideal to use a pressure washer, this will really get rid of anything that has stuck to the patio over time.

Get Your Hot Tub Ready

Hot tubs are great for the summer months, for both entertaining guests and enjoying yourself. Whether you’ve used the hot tub all winter or covered it up during the cold season, there are some things you have to do before enjoying it through summer.

Drain it: Whether you use your hot tub all year round or not, it’s a good idea that you drain your hot tub before your summer get-togethers. Flushing out the hot tub and the pipes is key to having a sparkling clean hot tub to welcome your guests.

Inspect it: It’s important that you check your hot tub before you refill it, in case there has been any damage caused or if there are any breakages. Whilst you check over your hot tub, clean out any dirt or grime that has built up over time.

Fill it: When you refill your hot tub, use a filter for your hose, preventing hard water and unwanted chemicals from entering your hot tub straight away. It can be easy to leave the hose in and go back once it’s done, but make sure you don’t overfill the hot tub.

Test the water: Test the water and its temperature, adding relevant chemicals and solutions. If you are unsure about the chemicals you need to be using in your hot tub though, get in touch with our team and they can advise you on what is best to use.

Clean The BBQ

There’s no denying that you’ll be having plenty of BBQs this summer, so it’s important that you make sure it’s clean. Cleaning your BBQ with newspaper and steam can burn off all of the rubbish you don’t want. Allow your BBQ to cool slightly, but whilst it’s still warm, lay an old sheet of newspaper across the top, and spray with water. This is just another easy step to getting your garden ready for summer.
