Shuffleboard Rules
2-8 Players
Played with 2 teams. Each team has 1 player for singles, and up to 4 players for a team game.
Each team has a different colour puck which is usually red or black and there are 4 pucks per team
Decide who is going first, toss a count etc – tactically its best to go second
Each person/team takes it in turns to slide a Shuffleboard Puck down the table with the aim of stopping in the scoring zone and scoring as many points as possible.
You can hit other pucks and knock them off.
Each round is over once all 8 pucks have been used up and the round scored.
Both teams play from the same end of the table and switch ends with each round.
For the next round the winner goes first.
The winner(s) is the first to person/team 15 points unless otherwise specified.
Shuffleboard Scoring
The aim is to score as many points as possible by landing in a scoring zone.
Each end of the table has three* scoring zones clearly marked out with 1, 2, & 3. Each number is the points scored in that zone. The 1-point zone is the largest and closest making it the easiest to score in. The 3-point zone is the furthest away and boarders the non-scoring gutter which makes it the hardest to score in.
* Usually 3 scoring zones but can be up to 5 on large tables.
Halfway point is the foul line – If you don’t get passed it you down score.
If the puck stops and is hanging off the end its known as a hanger and you get an extra point.
If the puck stops on a line, it scores for the lower zone. To score in a zone the puck must be clearly over the line so you can see wood.
Going into the gutter gets zero points.
The round is won by the team that has the furthest away scoring puck. Only the pucks from the winning team that are ahead of the losing teams furthest away puck score. The losing team score 0 points.
The winner(s) is the first to person/team 15 points unless otherwise specified.
